Welcome to the 37th Tokyo International Film Festival.

Following last year's return to regular operation for the first time in four years since 2019, this year's film festival will again take place in Hibiya, Yurakucho, Marunouchi, and Ginza, which have a rich history of film culture. We will showcase more films than in previous years and have invited many guests from abroad. Please expect to see diverse programs, including special screenings to commemorate the entry into force of the Japan-Italy film co-production agreement and the newly introduced Women's Empowerment section.

This year's opening red carpet on Hibiya-Nakadori Street will also be organized to provide a better viewing experience for a wider audience.

In addition, we will aim to facilitate interaction between participants of the Tokyo International Film Festival and TIFFCOM 2024, the market for film and audiovisual content, which takes place during the same period.

Since relocating to the Hibiya and Marunouchi area four years ago, the Tokyo International Film Festival has become an integral part of the community, thanks to the support of local government and businesses. We are honored to make a spectacular start to this year's festival with an enhanced version of our popular red carpet opening event.

As a film festival in Asia, we aim to promote interaction among films and people from all over the world, with a particular focus on Asian countries.

Another focus is to nurture future filmmakers, which is also a part of the festival's mission.

Furthermore, we are introducing the Women's Empowerment section this year to promote opportunities for women by showcasing related films and hosting symposiums.
