Our Mission:
Our mission is to amplify the possibilities of cinema from Tokyo and contribute to interactions with a diverse world.
Last year, the Tokyo International Film Festival announced the above as its festival mission. In line with this mission, this year’s TIFF will adhere to the following principles to deliver an engaging festival.
International Exchange
To foster greater exchange between the Japanese and international film industries, TIFF will welcome a diverse group of international filmmakers, actors, producers, film festival programmers, and film students. Notably, Tony Leung will serve as the Jury President of the International Competition.
Nurturing Talent for the Industry’s Future
TIFF is dedicated to fostering talent for the future of cinema. Initiatives supporting this goal include the "TIFF Lounge" discussions featuring international industry figures, the "TIFF Teens Meet Cinema" workshop for junior high school students, master classes for Asian students, and the involvement of TIFF Student Supporters as judges for the TIFF Ethical Film Award. Additionally, the festival is proud to welcome back Kim Yunsoo, winner of the 34th Tokyo International Film Festival Amazon Prime Video Take One Award, who will be presenting his feature film debut Or Utopia.
The Female Perspective
This year, TIFF will introduce the Women’s Empowerment Section in collaboration with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and welcome a new female programmer. The section will feature a symposium, inviting female filmmakers to discuss the past and future of cinema. TIFF aims to explore new horizons by wholeheartedly embracing the perspectives of women across various fields.
We invite you to experience this year’ s edition of the Tokyo International Film Festival, which is set to bring even more vibrancy to the world.

Celebrating the joy of watching films at TIFF, particularly in the movie theater, the poster features acclaimed actor Kikuchi Rinko, this year’s festival navigator.
For her significant commitment to the film industry as an actor, she has been appointed Festival Navigator for the 37th TIFF. Beyond her powerful gaze, we hope to present a new landscape of cinema.
