The 17th Asian Film Awards: Japanese Directors Kurosawa Kiyoshi, Kore-eda Hirokazu and many other guests to Meet the Hong Kong Audience in Person at Asian Cinerama Screening Events

The Asian Film Awards Academy (AFAA) announced that seven outstanding nominated films of the 17th Asian Film Awards will be screened in Hong Kong alongside two special screenings from March 7 through 11 before and after the Awards Ceremony.

The Asian Film Awards, an annual prestigious event celebrating Asian cinema, brings film talents from all over the world together, promoting Asian film culture to the world, while also facilitating exchanges between cinephiles and filmmakers.
 
The screening event titled Asian Cinerama features nice films including three Best Film nominees: Evil Does Not Exist, 12.12: The Day and Paradise. The selection also includes Monster, Dwelling by the West Lake (both receiving three nominations), City of Wind (nominated for Best New Director and Best Newcomer), and Trouble Girl (nominated for Best Actress). Two screenings of special presentation include Tokyo Sonata, the masterpiece of Japanese director KUROSAWA Kiyoshi who will serve this year’s Jury President, and Egoist, which got three nominations at the 16th AFA.
 
In conjunction with the screenings, there will be post-screening talks and stage greeting events welcoming international filmmakers. From Japan, AFAA is honored to have the AFA17 Jury President Kurosawa Kiyoshi, with his masterpiece Tokyo Sonata, who will share on his creative journey over the years, director KORE-EDA Hirokazu with renowned screenwriter SAKAMOTO Yuji talking about the award-winning film Monster, and ISHIBASHI Eiko, who won the Best Music Award for Drive My Car at the 16th AFA last year, and will talk about her experience in film music composing and her collaboration with director HAMAGUCHI Ryusuke. In addition, from Egoist, which was nominated in three categories at the 16th AFA and will be shown as a special screening at the 17th AFA, director MATSUNAGA Daishi, lead actor SUZUKI Ryohei and MIYAZAWA Hio, who won the Best Supporting Actor Award for this film and is this year’s Youth Ambassador, will attend the screening to meet the audience.

The Asian Cinerama is presented by the Asian Film Awards Academy, in collaboration with Broadway Cinematheque and financially supported by Create Hong Kong and the Film Development Fund. Screenings will be held from March 7 (Thu) to 11 (Mon) at Broadway Cinematheque, PREMIERE ELEMENTS and MOViE MOViE Cityplaza. Tickets will be available starting from February 24.
