37th TIFF Is Just Around the Corner: Festival Unveils an Array of Events

The Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) is thrilled to unveil an unprecedented variety of special programs and screenings for its upcoming 37th edition, running from October 28 through November 6, 2024. With an exceptional roster of international guests from all corners of the globe, we anticipate a significant surge in excitement for the largest international film festival in Japan.

Creators talk on the Dolby Cinema production of “11 Rebels”
Director Shiraishi Kazuya along with Sound Mixer Urata Tomoharu and Sound Effect Designer Shibasaki Kenji from 11 Rebels, which is TIFF’s Opening Film and will be screened from Nov. 1 in Japan at the theaters, to discuss the process and techniques behind the production of the film as a Dolby Cinema work.

The Japan Arts Council has established the Young Creator Development Funds under the subsidiary aid of the Agency for Cultural Affairs, Government of Japan, to support the development of live-action and animation projects, mainly for overseas activities. Three support programs will be introduced and the results of the first call will be announced. Christian Jeune, who has discovered many new talents at the Cannes Film Festival, and the actor and filmmaker Saitoh Takumi will talk with the recipients and give encouragement to these creators.

Celebrating the 70th anniversary of Godzilla’s birth and the 10th Godzilla Festival, the annual Godzilla Festival will feature the latest Godzilla information and a suit meet-and-greet, an Izakaya Godzilla, a short film on tokusatsu, and Godzilla Digitally Remastered in 4K will be screened for the first time in Japan.
